We preferred long marshmallow roasting sticks that are designed or adjustable to a length no shorter than 22” for a safe distance from fires, are constructed out of high-quality, non-toxic stainless steel, BPA-free heat-resistant plastics, and wood, and are designed to be safe for young children to use.
We favored sticks made with materials that are 100% FDA approved, easy to clean, durable, feature comfortable, heat-resistant handles to keep hands safe from burning, and have ends sharp enough to be functional, but not dangerous to handle.
Finally, we liked sticks that could be used for other purposes, such as skewers for meat and vegetables or shishkebab or cooking hotdogs and sausages, especially dual-point sticks, which are far better for keeping longer food items in place while cooking. One thing to always keep in mind is that different materials conduct and retain heat differently and that materials that may be superior performance-wise may also be less safe to use if they become too hot to safely handle.
