The Pelican Kayak provides optimal comfort when you sit inside (it is a type sit-in kayak, for your reference) and the Shallow V Chine Hull provides optimal stability while you’re floating on the water. In fact, the 100X Maxim was specifically designed for stability in mind. Which does well to scratch that safety concern itch you have.

Performance
The Pelican Maxim 100X Kayak’s flat bottom includes a Shallow V Chine Hull that not only provides great stability but great maneuverability too. The Kayaks Pelican designs don’t come with rod holders so they can’t double as fishing kayaks. The Ram X, a multi-layered material exclusive to Pelican and used to build the 100X, is known for its high-impact resistance, ability to regain its shape after heavy impacts, and UV protection.
Design
The Pelican Prime Kayak includes adjustable padded Ergofoam backrest and an ergofoam seat. So if you’re looking for the best pelican kayak for comfort, the Kayak Pelican Maxim 100X should have you covered. It also comes with a bottle holder, carry handles, and because it is a beginner kayak it can only seat one person. Some people found that a bit annoying, especially if you’re with friends, so try the BKC TK219 Tandem Kayak if you want to Kayak with another person.
Value
Pelican Kayaks reviewed by others found that the Maxim 100X Kayak has a weight capacity of about 275 pounds which isn’t too bad for a beginner-level kayak. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty (parts are only one year, the hull is for life) but is currently unavailable on Amazon. You can get it from the Pelican website for $400.00 though. If you’re willing to pay a little more (roughly $30.00), the Perception Sound 9.5 is also another excellent beginner kayak.

The Pelican Recreational Kayak is among the best Pelican Kayaks just for that, recreation. It can’t really double as a fishing kayak, but there are other kayaks that can fill that niche. It’s only a beginner kayak, so it’s best that it can only fit one person. Could you imagine the mayhem that would ensue if two inexperienced kayakers were out on the water together?
